A newcomer has joined the other 184 million bloggers in the United States. She’s not just a newcomer to blogging...she’s never used a computer in her life. Rosemary is an 80 year old former school teacher living in Danville, Kentucky...and Mother-in-Law of firstSTREET CEO, Mark Gordon. We decided to let her have a ‘GO’ with our new designed for SENIORS™ GO Computer to see just what her experience would be. She’s never had any training or really wanted to learn about the world of cyberspace. So come here often and see how an octogenarian learns and interacts with the designed for SENIORS™ GO Computer.

Rosemary, thanx for the plug on 'The Old Goats'. I just happen to be one of those who are a dying breed. Our numbers were many at one time but now they are few as aging seems to take it's toll. Those of us whom are left still have the same approach to life: arise to the sun early, speak to a fellow 'goat' with laughter in your voice. We do have fun ribbing each other and telling tall yarns, which could be or could not be the absolute truth!

Rosemary, the decorator to whom you refer, is a great friend and the best in the business at what he does and does well. Surprisingly, those of us whom are still around at the Old Goats, 80% are literate at the PC keyboard. You have a nice day pretty lady!

Hi Rosemary;

 From all of our Senior Disabled Veterans of WW II and Vietnam era I wish to say this is a good idea for those of us who worked all our lives and never took the time to learn how to operate a computer. I am trying to get our Non profit to purchase a few for the Vets that wish to learn.

The author of rosemaryscomputer.com has written an excellent article. You have made your point and there is not much to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not argue with: The less you know about something, the easier it is to hate it. Thanks for the info.

I actually think a custom computer for seniors IS a good idea, I just disagree with the fake blog. Also, the price is far too high - if you are charging a fee, provide the hardware for free. If you are charging for the hardware (and charging quite a lot), then you should not require a subscription. To anyone with computer experience, it's easy to see that the monthly fee is being wasted on proprietary technologies and service fees paid to companies that charge far too much.

Also, why on earth is this based on Windows? You have one hardware stack to support, and your users aren't trying to break or hack the system in any way. You could have used Puppy Linux or even Browser Linux to do this without spending a dime. Plus, basing the system off Windows means it retains all of the vulnerabilities that come with that OS - and you have probably disabled the update manager Microsoft provides, which makes matters even worse. An unsuspecting senior could easily be fooled into loading up a malicious web page that uses any of the current exploits to infect their machine and completely destroy their experience (not to mention causing potential legal issues).

I got my computer about 9 months ago and am in love with it. The ease in the use and worry free way it works is great. I have told my friends about it and praised it's simplicity. I am completely satisfied and would recommend it to anyone.
