A newcomer has joined the other 184 million bloggers in the United States. She’s not just a newcomer to blogging...she’s never used a computer in her life. Rosemary is an 80 year old former school teacher living in Danville, Kentucky...and Mother-in-Law of firstSTREET CEO, Mark Gordon. We decided to let her have a ‘GO’ with our new designed for SENIORS™ GO Computer to see just what her experience would be. She’s never had any training or really wanted to learn about the world of cyberspace. So come here often and see how an octogenarian learns and interacts with the designed for SENIORS™ GO Computer.

Dear Diary, I am keeping the Email wires busier and busier with the approaching holidays! Email is certainly a wonderful invention and is beginning to rival the telephone in my life. I never thought I could say that anything is more fun than the telephone, but Email is coming close! After Thanksgiving and Christmas, when life slows down a bit, I hope to practice with the Internet more. So far I haven’t used it much but I know many magical things are out there somewhere for me to explore!

Dear Diary, Yesterday my firstSTREET catalog arrived and I read with interest the latest entry about how good and helpful the GO Computer is proving to be for the older generation. I think the story was well written but I wish in the picture I had worn RED. The computer looked better than I did! The AT&T man who came to "bundle" my Internet service with my other communication things really was impressed with the computer and could see why I like it better than all others. The feature of the GO button helps me get out of trouble. I hope you have an excellent Christmas and Holiday!

Dear Diary, My adventure with the GO Computer has taught me that age is no barrier to new ideas if you have the right equipment. Before I met the GO Computer, I felt like all computers were like foreign languages: extremely difficult to understand. When I discovered how easy GO makes this modern miracle, I became more active in my downtown and have even reached out to state, national and inter-national issues. Everyone should get a GO and GET CONNECTED!

Dear Diary, I’ve just read the morning news from Yahoo. I always thought I must subscribe to a morning newspaper but I have been reading Yahoo since I have moved to my new apartment. It’s great. I don’t have to wonder when the newspaper boy will feel like coming and the most important news items are selected for me! Also, it’s free! The local committees I serve on are all celebrating that I have the GO Computer because now I receive minutes by email and am no longer the exception that needs them on paper by regular mail. And, of course, I hear from my Grandchildren A LOT MORE since I have become a modern Grandmom with a computer and an email address! Thank you for helping me enter Computerland. It’s a whole new world and my generation needs to be a part of it.

Dear Diary, I haven’t written lately because I’ve been so busy with local festivals and special events. My town, Danville, Ky., is small but there is a LOT going on here and the need for volunteer help is great. If you’ll say, "Yes.", there are many things for you to do! We have the Perryville Battlefield Reenactment coming up next weekend and the Forkland Festival the week after that. Also the Centre College Concert Season is beginning as well as our local theatre’s Fall dramas. There is more but you probably don’t wish to hear it all! I’ve noticed the
ads for the GO Computer in my AARP magazine! I hope it is marketing well. It has helped me break into a whole new world of communication more or less effortlessly because GO is an engineering miracle! All other computers have "turned me off" but not this one. When winter comes and I will be home more, I plan to really get into the WEB!

However, I’ve received much information about the Festival, for example, times of the special programs, locations where I should be and other needed info to help me with my commitments during the Festival. This all has come on the Heart of Danville website. Before computerland came into my life, I had to wait until our newspaper printed information I needed to know. Now I can be informed daily on the GO! Thank you, GO, for helping me organize my life better during busy community times. If you are anywhere near Danville, Kentucky, on September 18- 19- 20, you should come to the Constitution Square Arts Festival!

Dear Diary, I saw a new ad for the GO Computer in my AARP Bulletin! It is true that this computer can make our lives better. I strongly recommend that all of us "seniors" who are retired from our long-time careers get involved in volunteer work! While we are out there helping our communities, our GO Computers are collecting needed information for us. For example, yesterday I read the Convocation speech by our local college president (Centre College of Kentucky). I wanted to go to hear the speech but had a conflict and then the speech showed up on my GO Computer. Another miracle! Also there were meeting dates for various town committees on which I work and letters from friends and family which I answered with a message and a click! My advice for the day: Volunteer and get a GO!

I have read and responded to my grand-daughter’s journal entry about her second week of student teaching! As a retired teacher of first and second grades, I love to hear about her experiences in the third grade classroom where she works! I have read the Yahoo news about the sad war in Afghanistan. I have sent messages to several friends whom I have trouble reaching on the telephone. Now, they have to try to catch me at home! The GO computer is a great help in the communication and information part of my life.

Dear Diary, My daughter in Lexington tells me that my "blog" is getting some unusual comments. Specifically, one comment doubted that I am a real person and an 80 year old beginner on computering. I think someway we should let people know that the GO Computer is exceptionally user-friendly and that is why I could learn the Email part so quickly. Some other comments were asking technical questions about the GO Computer. Of course, to me, computers are a sort of amazing miracle and I could never explain to anyone how they work. Several comments said they would love to get their parents involved in computerland. It’s true that the computer opens up a whole new world of communication, but I do give credit to this particular machine because I have tried and failed several times on other computers and this one just seems so much easier than any other. So I can endorse the GO Computer as a beginner’s friend. It has been a pleasant experience for me to break into the wonderful world of computering.

Dear Diary, Since my two weeks out-of-town in early August and my recent move, I have felt disconnected from Danville life. But thanks to my GO Computer, I’m now receiving minutes of board meetings I’ve missed and information of committees I’m on. Also, I have schedules of up-coming events including everything at Centre College. Centre is my college. I graduated
in 1951! Now my grandson has just started his freshman year at Centre and I can keep up with all the activities going on over there. What a great way to stay in touch with my Alma Mater and with the younger generation over there! When I first received the GO Computer, I remarked that my telephone would always be my favorite communication tool but after two months with GO, I have to admit: it has become an important part of my life!
